What I've Been To Lately..Yarn'in It

I whipped up this beanie and I am so thrilled with the results. I followed this lovely tutorial Crochet Baby Turban from This Mama Makes Stuff. My daughter loves it! I wish the weather would cool down enough to wear it though! Soon I hope.

I also made this super cool headband for myself! I loooove it! It was so darn easy too and done within 30 minutes or so. It's definitely a total beginner project. Easy! Quick! I plan on making more soon. I followed this tutorial Knotted Headband at All About Ami. I kinda strayed from it and didn't do as many rows and I attached the bow part differently by slip stitching it closed. Overall I'm extremely pleased with this one.

Here is what would have been a blanket using granny stripes, but I made it into a scarf instead for the precious princess!

Another beanie I made for my precious princess. I followed this tutorial here from Petite Purls. I didn't do the bow though! Check out her photos, she did hers in yellow and it looks beautiful on the little girl. I don't have a picture of my daughter wearing this one. I will have to snap one and post it up.

I can honestly say it's so relaxing for me to sit with my kids watching cartoons and zone out and pass my time making something creative with the hook and yarn. Oh gosh and with pinterest, it's dangerous!  I have sooooo many things I want to make. You should see my crochet board here. I add to it every chance I get.

I'm working on a few things I plan on sharing shortly! Holiday stuff, fun!!

Happy Halloween

We hit the streets early this year. Our local outdoor mall has a trick or treat event every year. This year was soo cool because they had a dog costume contest. I just had to snap a picture of this pooch, she was gorgeous. This picture doesn't do the costume justice. I wanted to take her home with us. :)

Here is my baby girl dressed as Belle from Beauty and the Beast. One of her favorite movies.

Here is my oldest son taking his little sister to get some candy. He loves to pick on her like any typical big brother, but he also enjoys taking care of her.

This is me and my little munchkins! My oldest took off at this point to get a head start on the candy!

Yup he's texting. Kids and technology these days.

We ended up trick or treating till about 9pm. We went around our neighborhood and I think we have more than enough candy to last a year!

Can't wait until next year.

Crochet, I'm Hooked!

I think I have finally gotten the hang of this crochet thing..and I'm hooked!! Literally! I'm in love with it. At first, learning was tough! My tension was all bonkers. Working into that darn little foundation chain almost had me running and never looking back. Yet I stuck it out. My mom crochet's and she said practice practice practice. At that time I was pregnant with my 3rd son and I figured I would give it a go and make a simple blankie using DC stiches. Simple, right? Yea, uh huhh. That foundation chain alone was insanely hard for me to work into. I am not even going to lie I took apart that foundation chain at least two dozen times, sometimes I would be on the second, third, even fourth DC row and I would take it apart and start over. I was insane and honestly I have no idea why I didn't just quit right then and there. Maybe because that was my little zen time regardless of the outcome, working that yard seemed to relax me. Being pregnant there is only so much you can do or at least for me, and that was something I could easily work on while watching TV, taking my daughter to the park, visiting my mom. I loved how I could take this little project with me. Well as for the Manly Blankie, I didn't finish him. Gasp! I know. Tsk Tsk! I was working on it while pregnant, and then the last month of pregnancy I was just so focused on having my son I put it aside and forgot about it.

Say helloooo to the Manly Blankie!

Yarn used: Vanna's Choice in Taupe & Grey Marble

Simple. Yes, yet lovely. :P  Now that I've seen the Manly Blankie again, makes me want to finish him up real soon. Especially with winter coming. I love this yarn, so soft and snuggly.

This is my first project and it will always be a bit special.

Is it me or did Walmart stop selling Vanna's Choice. I went the other day and it was all gone. Boo. Back to Michael's for yarn, I love the variety there and can't beat the price with their 40% off coupon.

Manly Blankie belongs to this little fellow
This guy will be a year in December, talk about procrastination..finish his blankie STAT!

Well there are soo many cool ideas out there and I can't wait to do some more crocheting! Follow my Pinterest board Crochet, it's awwwesome!!
